OTHERWISE CALLED ENCEPHALITAZOON CUNICULI
This is my Netherland Dwarf Doe. She has wryneck. I have tried Ivermec and Steriods. I have tried Baytril and Steriods. I have tried Dura-pen ( Pencillin with Benzathine ) and Steriods, cough medicine. The downside was it didn't help, the upside was she didn't die. I search on the net for everything I could find. I went through my friends web again and again she has had so much success with hers but, I didn't. Well, I went through for the hundredth time, I went back into the Rabbit health vet that is on her web and I scrolled all the way down his site and found the word update, click on it and found that he has had great success with Valbazen (albendazole) Broad- spectrum Dewormer. What this kills is: Stomach worms, Intestinal Worms, Lungworms, Tapeworms, Mature Liver Flukes Brown stomach worms, 4th stage inhibited larvae, Barberpole, Hook worms, Bankrupt worms, Nodular worms, Thread-necked intestinal worms, etc... I don't know the correct dose to give I believe you have to use your own judgement. I looked on the bottle and it says at a 25 pound animal give .75ml. so I broke it down to .10cc. I could be wrong or right, I gave it to her for 2 days and broke her for 2 days. Some people may disagree but, this is what I have done. It is a judgement call or call your Vet. But, I have seen a great improvement with her, she started eating pellets and drinking water like her normal self, she was cleaning herself and her motor skills are much better. Mind you this happen by the 1st day of treatment.
